Ella Sanders is the most popular girl at school which is a huge accomplishment when you are surrounded by people that can do anything from draining you of your energy to granting your greatest wish. Ella goes into her last year expecting to go through testing and on to placement following the rules and keeping control of the school. Something that she must do without a power of her own (or so she thinks). After Ella's given a new perspective, she scrambles to sort through her already complicated emotions about the boys that keep saving her and to untangle the lies that she lost herself in. Nothing is certain but Ella knows that she must do everything except what she's supposed to.

Thought policing ensures that any dissent is swiftly eradicated, as even the slightest hint of rebellion is punishable. Social status and employment are determined by the Unity, stripping away individual choice and autonomy. Resources are tightly controlled, and those who question the system are denied basic necessities. Everette, is a freethinker in a world that punishes independent thought. He has been sent to reeducation camps multiple times, accused of being "useless" and too questioning of the Unity's rule. His mind unwilling to conform makes him a target, as his persistent probing into the lies and manipulation behind the regime is seen as a dangerous crime. Despite the relentless punishment, Everette refuses to accept the Unity's version of reality, believing there is a greater truth beneath the surface. Maddie, has always been a compliant citizen, never questioning the rules or the world around her. But when she's drawn into Everette's secretive world of resistance, she begins to awaken to the realization that she, too, is a freethinker-though she's never allowed herself to see it. WARNING: CONTAINING AMOUNTS OF SASS PREVIOUSLY UNKNOWN TO MANKIND In the city of NYC--- Ok. Hold up. First of all, New York City. What, are ya gonna assume everyone here knows what NYC is? Anyway, this is about two people. I can almost hear you rolling your eyes. Another cliché teen fiction with a bad boy and a good girl? Nope. This is about superheroes. I can still hear you rolling your eyes. Superheroes. Like in comic books? Like people with super speed and mutant powers? Yes. But this isn't about the fight they have. More about the lives they lead without the masks. But just keep in mind, people who live in the world have all different skin colours. Do not assume my characters are of one unless I state them explicitly. and diversity is welcome here in my novel! Anyhow, back to the story. Ever wonder where supervillains go after their fight with the hero? What about the other side of the story? It's not like they sit in their lair cackling all day and planning how to kidnap reporters. What about the lives they lead? And instead of just focusing on that, what if the superhero and the supervillain knew each other? I mean, can they see behind the mask? No, so their identities are secret. So what if the hero and villain were best friends? What if they were roommates? What if they were falling for each other? And what happens when they find out? Now, I assume you know all of these questions will be answered in this book. But hold on. It's going to take a while. You're in for a bumpy ride. And if any of you got any of the references in this description, give yourself a pat on the back. That is a beautiful thing. And if you can name all the references in this book, you truly are a gift to mankind. Fangirl out.

One day, that person is her little brother, snatched right in front of her from their arms of their father and gone forever. When a person is snatched, they never return, and life goes on without them. But she can't accept that. Breaking all the rules, all the things she's ever known, she braves the world outside her little townhouse and goes on a mission into the darkness to find her brother. Only, it's soon her that becomes the one lost to the drains. To survive she must rediscover her world, and in the process, rediscover herself. She will be reunited with old friends, gain new ones, find out deeper secrets about her past than she ever could have imagined, and learn that the world is even more corrupt than she always thought. *** This story contains sexist ideology, mention of cheating, some gruesome scenes, and a whole lot of monsters and darkness. It isn't overly mature... there isn't much explicit language or sexual scenes, but there is a bit of violence, so just keep that in mind... and despite all that negativity, ENJOY!
