     "I'll be back soon, I promise," he pleaded.

     Well, guess what? Promises nowadays are worthless. Someone says that they promise not to tell your secret? They're probably going to scream it out to the world as soon as you're done talking to them. You promise not to eat any sweets, or that you'll try to eat healthier? There's a chance that you'll do exactly that after a couple of weeks. 

     But I said yes.

     Yes, I'll let you go across the country without me to go to an audition. Yes, I trust that you'll never forget me. Yes, we'll call, text, and Skype each other every other day that you're away. I promise.

     Biggest mistake of my life.
