Kyla Calmore is a cool girl.

Popular, devoutly Catholic (just ask her strict father and even stricter mother), and spouting curse words whenever she thinks any thought, Kyla is teen angst on two legs.

But Kyla's got a soft side under that armor. Gnawing problems like dyslexia, resentment of her best friend's idyllic life, a raging crush on one of the Dennindrorff twins, and grief for her older brother have shattered her belief in herself. And the police. And God. Especially God.

And maybe her best friend, D'Quan.

After she confirms her relationship with Price, the taller of the twins, the fight for her friendship worsens when Price delivers an unpleasant twist that plunges the wedge of resentment and jealousy deeper than its ever been.

As they try and salvage their mess of a friendship, Kyla discovers the terrifying secret that bonds the Dennindrorff twins, but not what she really needs.
