Her family, especially, had secrets of their own- which were kept /very/ close. This took a toll on Katherine, both physically and psychologically. She decided to move away when she was 16- well, run away. She kissed her hellish family goodbye and lived independently for a fresh start. She promised herself that she would never relive those days of her childhood and she kept those memories locked tight in the depths of her mind- until a certain letter shows up on her porch step.
