Whilst on a press tour that takes them across the United States, the Avengers find themselves attendants of a sumptous celebration in Gotham City as the guests of honour. It's at this event, as they mingle with the city's most elite, that they're introduced to Gotham's personal royals: the Waynes. Dickie, the charismatic eldest child and a born showman through-and-through; Cassie, the first daughter whose elegant ballet puts all others to shame; Jay, the second addition to the family whose return from "the dead" is regarded as a miracle by Gothamites; Timothy, the business genius who has a monopoly on the majority of the city's utilities, exports and properties; Annie, the surprisingly sage second daughter who prospers despite her ultra-rare eye condition; Damian, the reclusive rumoured prince with an affection for animals; and the monarch, Brucie Wayne himself, the kindhearted bumbling baffoon who has used his wealth to change the city of the better. Of course, it's not all sunshine and rainbows, especially in the world of the super-rich. Their history of multiple controversies and scandals, combined with some ill-timed impute on Tony's part, unresolved biases and misplaced concern drives Steve to try and dig deeper for information regarding the reality of the Waynes beyond the glamorous lives they flaunt in front of the cameras. With the help of both Nat and Sam, he manages to find various instances of the Wayne children being recorded having injuries that appear with no explanation. So many instances and injuries, in fact, that he becomes uncertain of the children's safety inside their manor's locked doors. So when an assassination attempt by a rogue organisation against Dickie Grayson's life calls for the Avengers to aid in protecting the family, tensions are high and stares are suspicious. DC Series Book One "No don't..." But her arms go up and the mesmerizing portals appear. Through the portal closest to them, the boys can see grass and park benches where concrete and pavement should be. She jumps through and as she does, the portal in front of them collapses. Off in the distance, where the park is, Tim can see her running away, dark hair flying in the wind. "Real smooth Drake." Damian says, striding towards me. "Should've asked for her number while you were at it." --- "Phantom? That's the name you're going with?" "It's a hell of a lot cooler than Robin." She snaps back at him. "Robin was not a name that I..." Tim grabs Damian by his cape as he marches toward her. "Be nice to the guests Damian." Alfred says in a tired voice, interrupting Damian's rant. "Bite me." He snarls at Ria. --- Dabria Tran has lived in Gotham City her whole life. First as a nurtured, well looked after baby, then as an orphaned, forgotten child and now as a desperate, impulsive teenager. At the ripe age of eighteen, Ria is on the streets, fending for herself and dealing with powers she can barely control. It is while on patrol that Tim Drake and Damian Wayne spot this camouflaged girl of the night and try to stop her as she breaks into a local convenience store, not to steal the cash but the food. After obsessively tracking her for a week, Tim finally catches up with her, finding her holed up in an abandoned building with another younger girl she is trying to care for. Bruce Wayne doesn't hesitate to take them in, but Ria's mistrust of them leads to tension in the house. Her powers are dangerous, volatile and no matter how hard Tim tries, he can't get her to open up to him. As Ria's shadowed past slowly catches up with her, the Bat Family finally realizes that they have no idea what kind of forces they're dealing with.
