Annalise discovers something much more than she ever anticipates when she follows a mysterious figure through the halls of the elegant ballroom, where she watches him command snakes to do his bidding. After suffering from a fit of strange seizures and dreams after meeting this ellusive snake charmer, she is determined to find him, and to discover his true identity.
With this discovery of this enigmatic man at the forefront of her mind, and rumors of war threatening to destroy magic and machines alike, Annalise begins an incredible and dark journey that will lead her across the cities, and discover frightening secrets that will change the future of the world and her fate as she knows it.

Since she was a little girl, Velvet has been reading stories about great wizards and witches of Rumerra's past, wishing every night to wake up one day and be blessed with the affinity for magic herself. Unfortunately, the odds are stacked against her. Both her parents had no magic and thus the chances of her developing it are slim at best. But the gods of fate smile upon her one day when she receives her mark of light, thus becoming a light witch. Acquiring magic is only the first step, however. After this comes the grueling and life-long task of mastering it. We accompany the young witch as she sets out on a journey of self-discovery, full of magic and wonder - or so she thought. Good and evil are not so easily told apart, not everyone is to be trusted, friends can die and a happy ending is all but guaranteed. Will Velvet be able to find her place in such a world? Can she become the hero she admired in her storybooks and pass on her knowledge of magic to others as she always wanted? Or will the cruel reality shatter her illusion and bring the girl to her knees?

Uelhara's tale begins in the heart of the Whispering Woods, an ancient and enigmatic forest where the veil between worlds is at its thinnest. Born to a lineage of elven guardians who protected the woods from the encroaching darkness, she was the youngest of three siblings. Her mother, an accomplished druid, taught her the sacred ways of the forest, while her father, a renowned wizard, introduced her to the arcane. As she grew, Uelhara's innate magical abilities surpassed those of her family, and she found herself drawn to the darker, more volatile aspects of her craft. Against her parents' wishes, she delved into the study of shadow magic, finding solace in its seductive embrace. Her thirst for knowledge led her to discover a hidden tome within the ruins of an ancient elven city, buried deep within the forest's heart. This grimoire, bound in the skin of a long-forgotten creature, contained spells and incantations that had been lost to time. Consumed by the power within its pages, Uelhara became a sorceress of unparalleled might. Her newfound power, however, came at a cost: she was exiled from her home and family for consorting with the very forces they had dedicated their lives to combat. For centuries, Uelhara roamed the lands, seeking to understand and master the shadowy arts she had embraced. She encountered beings of myth and legend, forged alliances with the unsavory, and battled the forces that sought to destroy her. Through her travels, she grew to appreciate the delicate balance of light and dark, and her heart softened to the plight of those who suffered at the hands of the unchecked powerful. She now wields her sorcery not just for power, but to protect the innocent and bring equilibrium to the world she once thought she could control.
