The Reluctant Hero.
The story is set in Niriyain, an interdimensional prison world where those who enter can never leave. Cal, the son of two prisoners-Suilenroc, a thief, and Akemit, a disgraced nurse-has spent his life resenting the chains of a system that punishes him for the crimes of his parents. Living on the outskirts of society, Cal survives by helping others in need, especially the orphans and outcasts of the outer rim. One day, Cal takes a job to scavenge in the mysterious Unknown Region, an uncharted and dangerous part of Niriyain. There, he and his companions awaken the Unbeknownst, a godlike entity tied to Niriyain itself. The Unbeknownst tests the group, and only Cal passes. As a reward, the entity offers him a wish, but when Cal asks for ultimate power, the Unbeknownst can only partially grant it due to the restrictions of its kind. Instead, it transforms Cal into its herald, granting him the Power of Tri-control over the mind, body, and soul. Now imbued with incredible but dangerous abilities, Cal struggles with his new identity. The power begins to alienate him from those around him, even as he feels the weight of the Unbeknownst's expectations. Meanwhile, the ruling High Council-a group of ruthless overseers who maintain strict control over Niriyain-becomes aware of Cal's newfound power and sees him as a threat to their secret plans. As Cal begins to uncover the horrors perpetrated by the High Council, including experiments that turn people into mindless soldiers with glowing green markings, he realizes the extent of their cruelty and the chains they've placed on the people of Niriyain. Though reluctant, Cal begins to embrace his role as the Unbeknownst's herald, using his powers to protect the outcasts of Niriyain and push back against the Council's tyranny.

The Sharded Blade | Part 1 (A Dark Fantasy Novella)
What happens when death is not the end? For one assassin, it wasn't. Now, in order to die, he must continue to kill. ⭐2020 Ambassador Pick⭐ ⭐2020 ONC Shortlister⭐ ⭐2020 ONC Honorable Mention⭐ The Sharded Blade (Part 1: Ghosts of the Past) was my entry into the 2020 Open Novella Contest (#OpenNovellaContest2020) and is approximately 24k words. It didn't place in the Top 5 and win, but it did receive a very kind Honorable Mention from the Wattpad Ambassadors who ran the contest. I am deeply thankful for all of you who read and enjoyed this story. Parts 2 and 3 (turning this into an entire novel length story) are currently being worked on. This story is based on the following two prompts ... with some liberties taken: 4. When something tragic happens, it's often said we lose a piece of ourselves. How far would you go to find these lost parts of yourself in order to be whole again? 45. You are possessed by a demon. The only way to cast it out is to kill 7 people - each representing one of the 7 virtues.Concluida
