There, he and his companions awaken the Unbeknownst, a godlike entity tied to Niriyain itself. The Unbeknownst tests the group, and only Cal passes. As a reward, the entity offers him a wish, but when Cal asks for ultimate power, the Unbeknownst can only partially grant it due to the restrictions of its kind. Instead, it transforms Cal into its herald, granting him the Power of Tri-control over the mind, body, and soul.
Now imbued with incredible but dangerous abilities, Cal struggles with his new identity. The power begins to alienate him from those around him, even as he feels the weight of the Unbeknownst's expectations. Meanwhile, the ruling High Council-a group of ruthless overseers who maintain strict control over Niriyain-becomes aware of Cal's newfound power and sees him as a threat to their secret plans.
As Cal begins to uncover the horrors perpetrated by the High Council, including experiments that turn people into mindless soldiers with glowing green markings, he realizes the extent of their cruelty and the chains they've placed on the people of Niriyain. Though reluctant, Cal begins to embrace his role as the Unbeknownst's herald, using his powers to protect the outcasts of Niriyain and push back against the Council's tyranny.
