With new and previously unthought of sciences, the world is certainly becoming a more advanced place.

But where lies amazing things also lies secrets - secrets that have been hidden from the public's eye. These secrets are beautiful creations, but also quite odd. Most are pulled away from the world and hidden for lifetimes in order to be studied and recreated.

But these secrets are special, and that's for one reason: they're alive.

Sometimes, they escape the watchful gaze of scientists and wander into the real world, where they know nothing. Where they're strange and scary.

But 'strange and scary' were not adjectives that popped into 14-year-old Jonathan Comb's mind when he ran into one of these 'secrets'; a human/chiroptera by the name of Sock.
