"Mummy, where is daddy?" Anthony stares at me with those curious, innocent blue eyes. I drop the piece of fries that I intended to feed him and just stare at him, shock clearly written on my face.
I do not know how to answer that to my three-year old son, who for his age, seems a bit too smart. Suddenly the bell rings, informing the people inside the diner that there's a another costumer.
That is when it hits me. The all too familiar scent that I have once tried to forget. I freeze in my seat, with my eyes still holds Anthony's, and my hands gripping the table.
Before I can even comprehend what happened, I feel him, standing inches away from me, his heavy breathing audible against my sensitive ears.
Anthony seems to notice my state and turns his head, towards the stranger, a curious look that he seems to give everyone.
"You're looking at him, baby." I whisper, my words floating in the air.
