Eliza's newly wedded husband, Malachi, is in hospital under intensive care. The outcome doesn't look promising. The nights without him feel indefinite and she aches to hear his voice. An addiction to calling his phone only to hear his voice arises, and Eliza finds herself stuck reminiscing about their love story though voicemail messages. Isolated and alone, Eliza's friends have given up on pulling her out the shell she has hidden in. Looking to the future is difficult when all you want is to stay in the past.

Nathaniel and Cynthia's love story started in Japan, where they built a close bond. However, Cynthia's world was turned upside down when her family decided to migrate to America, forcing her to stay there for five years. Both were anxious about how their long-distance relationship would survive. Despite their efforts to stay connected, Cynthia later discovered that Nathaniel had been unfaithful, leading her to break up with him. Months after the breakup, Cynthia received an unexpected email from Nathaniel's best friend, Adrian, who painted a bleak picture of Nathaniel's condition. He told her that Nathaniel was devastated and that everyone in their circle blamed her for his downfall. Adrian's message was filled with urgency, warning her that Nathaniel might not survive if she didn't return to Japan. Conflicted but deeply worried, Cynthia decided to make the difficult journey back to Japan, uncertain about what awaited her or whether she could heal the wounds left behind. P.S. I started working on this back in junior high, so I apologize in advance for any grammatical errors or awkward formatting. I revisited it last year and finally finished it and published it. 🫣❤️
