Thanks to incredible advances in technology, science, bio engineering and Quantum research, immortality has became a fact of life and Gods and Demons walk among humanity that lives in a huge never ending metropolis that is located right near the stars, the advancements of engineering allowed humans to finally jump off the planets and colonise the space itself, building cities and structures in the darkness that divides the solar systems, humanity created a powerful structure of space stations and platforms that act as distribution pipelines connecting every single planet and solar system into an organic and ingenious web, which enabled the creation of a  defacto Megacivilisation, the most powerful and advanced universal state,  which political structure was modeled after the empires of the prehistoric past, and combined with the wonderful technology of the future, it is the world where powerful economic organizations dubbed "corporations"  for the lack of better term and influential people who control these powerful organizations, alongside some immortal figures, which some happen to be ressurected kings of past times, control and rule over all aspects of life and death.(CC) Attribution-ShareAlike

BOOK ONE: Having enough courage to run through the woods and away from the people who convinced me they were saving me was not how I believed I'd spend my day. Yet, there I went escaping from the only place I knew existed in the world. Being held captive was too much for me, especially when these people wouldn't tell me who they were or even who I was. The first moment in my life I recall very clearly. I awoke in a dark room, with recollection of everything that happened in the world except for one thing. I had no memory of myself existing, I didn't know where I was or why these men kept me from leaving. Days after I first woke I asked plenty of questions, and yet none of them were answered. The only thing I learned was that I was not allowed outside because the woods heald the most powerful magic on the planet, the most dangerous magic. It was more than just bad men and curiosity about the forest that got me to leave, it was a pull towards something; towards magic. Once I was in the forest turning back was never an option, so I put it in my head that I'd keep walking until I found a civilization or a nice paved road that would lead to safety. But that never happened because the forest has a force living through it. Believing that the forest held something strange was the easy part but experiencing it myself was something totally different. I didn't expect anything normal but I didn't expect to be completly engulfed into the forest. I was led by an unknown presence that made me truly believe it was a living being, and in fact it is. I was innocent then, but now I know that anything can be hidden under a small platform in the woods with a secret bigger than the world itself. I was given life that day, until it all ended months later; the day I took my last breath.

Escaping the Monster's Embrace by Mentally-Insane

Everything changed when they came out of hiding, terror spread across the world as people began to question if our presidents and our global leaders lied to us and weren't from the same race. The Beasts blended in amongst us as if we were the same, except humans didn't have the same predatory instincts and we couldn't change our forms like they could. Soon after we learnt that we weren't the only species people began going missing. Some were unlucky and taken as something that the Beasts called a Mate that one word made fear spread throughout my veins, I would rather sell my soul than have one of them mutts chain me to them. Six months went by before the government, that was un-tainted by this vile race began to take action into their own hands contacting other countries and militaries causing the great war to happen, sending both my parents off to fight for our rights. Only one of them came back, two months was the longest we lasted before we were overpowered by them. Six years of living in this dysfunctional environment and my hatred had never dwindled. Some people still believed in god and had faith in him, I didn't know what I believed in but I prayed like everyone else that I would get through another day without hearing the soul crushing word 'Mate'. Once upon a time there was a world, much like our own. This world is gone. The machinations and wars of man saw to every manner of apocalypse. What was left is a world as nightmarish as it is fantastical. Gunslingers and swordsmen ply the same trade. Science, chemistry and magic are indistinguishable from one another. The monsters prey on all, but the true villains will always be human. A handful of corrupted overlords run the walls before the wastelands. They promise power in the form of a potent and mysterious drug called Elysium. This is the way of the world and it has done nothing to diminish the number of mutants and parasites that crowd the wastelands. Until now. They are both overcome by a new threat from the walls that cage them. Only one wall was ever built to protect the non-cannibalistic mutants of the Grey Coast and the inhabitants of Valoria from the true Wastelands; it has fallen. The remaining warriors built a great defense to fill the gap in the frontline wall. This outpost was overrun and the warriors that defended it became too few. They did the best they could and many died in the battles to keep the True Wastelands at bay. Survivers became little more than wanderers, sell swords and try hard defenders of the inhabited wastes. This is the tale of one such wanderer and his mission to unite the Wastelands against the abominations created from Elysium. This is the tale of The Wandering King and his sadistic counterpart.

So what else are you supposed to do, rather than detach yourself, just to survive with the change? My life was planned. I had it all written in stone and had accepted what my life would become. 1,000 years ago, there was a great war between all the countries and nobody, not even the citizens of said country could be trusted. It was the cruelest of all the wars and you could even say that because of it everything was lost to each's arrogance. Out from the rubble of the devastation one person came forward and with their words brought together 9 people. As a collective, they were the light during such dark times and with their knowledge in multiple fields they were able to make a new standing government, one that united the people. It consisted of the ruler known as The Divine, The Counselor of Security, The Counselor of Agriculture, The Counselor of Technology, The Counselor of Education, The Counselor of History, The Counselor of Ecology, The Counselor of Health, The Counselor of Religion, and The Counselor of Economy. Together they were able to rebuild everything and although they had to restart, they never gave up and pushed forward, making the society we know now. As years went by, they got older and decided every 60 years all who turn 18 that year will have to take an exam. Then depending on their knowledge of a certain topic, they will be put into classes and be monitored for 5 years while learning the field of their choosing. With a special section for The Divine, for they had to take all the courses. The only catch would be once you had chosen what you would be studying, you could no longer change it. Anyone could take the places, gender and sexuality were not an issue. When the 5 years are up, 2 students with the highest grades from each section will be chosen, except in the case of The Divine. The work load to support an entire country can be hard on one person so that is why they had chosen to pick two people so that the work was divided, they were on equal footings. This year was when the new candidates were being chosen and it was during my lifetime. Will Mia be able to get through her hardships in one piece or will it be a walk in the park?!
