When we made the choice to go camping, we didn't realise it would change the course of our entire lives. All we wanted was a weekend away to be teenagers, to get away from the harsh world of high school and to leave the never ending expectations of our parents. Now, you wouldn't believe how badly we want all that back. We never know what lies ahead.

This is told from the perspective of that is read in a diary. It is simple and if you like simple then go ahead and read this. This is real events from a real diary. Permission was given to me to post. And i think it holds a lesson in this.

I sat looking at them sleep. I knew we had to leave. We had to get away from all this. I need a way out. We all did .we needed to escape this hell. We have to get away.

I was a floating wolf, a mere servant who hid in the shadows, cooking, and cleaning without being seen. It was what my pack demanded of us in exchange for food, shelter, and protection as everyone else. To be seen was a crime and would be punished. It was engraved in me since the day I could walk. Except. He was my Alpha, the one who made the rules. Would it be possible for me to stay hidden?

We have been on the run for days now. The safety of my children is my priority. I was betrayed in the worst way, and I could not watch him hurt us any longer. I never saw my life going this way but here I am running for my life and my children's. This was the last bus stop, and I had a choice to make. I hope that I would not make the wrong one. He could find us at any moment and I imagine him dragging me all the way back by my hair. I didn't know who to trust but sometimes you just have to take a leap. Maybe, with a little luck, I will find the one thing I have been missing and be saved. One could dream, but for now, I'll keep running.

Running away wasn't easy especially because it meant I had to leave everything behind, everything I've known my whole life, everything that made sense. But it had to happen I couldn't take the pain anymore. I now was not only responsible for my life but for another.

It's amazing how one little choice can change a life. Not just for you, but for everyone around you. I knew that our family welcoming in a foster child would change things, but I never imagined how much. I never imagined the burden my new brother carried. But he didn't have to carry that weight on his own any longer. Sometimes family wasn't linked by blood. Sometimes a brother comes when you least expect it. Sometimes adventure comes when you step out by faith. Sometimes family is all you have Sometimes love leads to pain. But I'd embrace the pain all over again for him. Because really, we were all that he had.
