Fourteen-year-old, Zoe Whitman has been bouncing around the foster care system for half her life. When she is kicked out of yet another group home, she almost gives up hope. Yet, just as things seem to be at their darkest, she is placed with the Bradley's, a big, loving family, full of love and laughter. Still haunted by her past, she struggles to accept their kindness. Over time Zoe begins to settle in with the Bradley's, and starts to wonder if she has finally found a home. But just as she begins to trust them, her past comes back to destroy her new-found happiness.
