Are you looking for something to read while you're waiting for the bus, in the doctor's office, or needing a few minutes of distraction? These stories, in a variety of genres, are all fewer than 1500 words long. You can read one and move on -- or can you? Perhaps they will imprint their afterimage in your brain or your heart, and haunt you for years to come.

These are short stories, flash and microfictions, most less than 500 words, the longest about 1500 words. Short, funny, and sometimes fun. Sometimes pointed and sometimes pointless. These stories have been described as eclectic, quirky, and sometimes sad. Take a handful to go.

I heard about this writing challenge from a youtuber I'm following and I wanted to do it too! Writing one small story every week for a year for a total of 52 stories. Let's go!

Silly, surreal and sometimes serious, these thirty-one very short stories cover a vast range of subjects and themes. Written entirely during July 2012, these flash fiction pieces are accompanied by a deeply unscientific analysis of the challenge that spawned them: to write thirty-one stories in thirty-one days. From lovesick androids to disgruntled minotaurs, the stories in this book embrace Classical mythology, futuristic sci-fi, and a variety of other genres that would much rather have stayed out of the way. Within these electronic pages, you will find disgraced superheroes, unionised zombies, steam-powered clowns and incompetent astronauts. Includes a non-fiction section analysing the results of this month-long experiment.

Redemption's Song and other short stories de TheOrangutan

My second collection of short stories, but longer than the works in my Read my Shorts collection. This volume consists of anything more than 1000 words and includes new works, re-writes of a few older pieces and anything else I found on my computer that I'd forgotten to post before. It will contain steampunk, historical fiction, urban fantasy, science fiction, fantasy, slipstream, sci-fantasy, horror, paranormal, general oddity and anything else that happens to fall out of my ears as ideas formulate into stories.
