"It was strange, that in her nineteen years of life, free as they were of war, she'd faced death more than most. She knew the taste of her own blood, the presence of Death warm against her neck. She did not fear death as her pack wished her too. She had been born of death, her mother dead before she entered the world completely, her twin dead earlier beside her in the womb."
Haf is broken - she is a Tyreen with no wolf. Three turns ago, she returned from the Drielm - the Tyreen coming of age ceremony - with only one form. Torn apart with confusion and frustration, Haf is trying to accept herself as only half a Tyreen when her clan kicks her out.
Forced out onto her own, Haf must face the dead of winter and an island brewing with war between the wolf clans.
With the help of a first blood wolf by the name of Nonn, Haf is determined to find the shaman Saeth, who she believes is the only one who can help her and the fate of the Tyreen.

A strange town that's only getting stranger as packs of werewolves arrive. they are only a precursor to what is coming. Mages, and more will soon be arriving in silver-spruce, any of them a potentially life threatening danger to him.
