Noel Whittemore was ten and eleven years old when his parents died. He was placed the night of his mother's death in the care of his aunt and uncle (at the insistence of his cousin Jackson), but after almost a year of Jackson protecting his cousin from the other kids that thrived off his pain, the older boy found a different set of friends to entertain and became everything he had been protecting Noel from for twelve years prior.

Years down the road in high school, one moment spent in the wrong place at the right time sends Noel down a path he never imagined he would walk with friends he didn't think he deserved. Childhood fantasies are becoming a reality at the same time his worst nightmares take shape, and his only solace may be found in the owner of a stolen leather jacket and the spirit of a girl he's never met.

This is the story of Scott McCall, and his friend Noel Whittemore, who you may have missed the first time you watched the series.
