Set in Afghanistan, Emina and Amir are residents of The City. However, they are belong to two different sides - Emina living in the 'Lower' and Amir in the 'Upper'. Emina's mother is forcing her to get married to 'Ali' - the very man who tried to kill her. Her father had died therefore her Mother hasn't sent her too school due to the lack of money. An aspiring artist, she paints and draws all day - confined in the walls of her own home.
However, Amir who belongs to the wealthiest family in the City - is neglected and abused by his parents. Instead of his polished mansions, he finds peace in The Garden - a place near his home filed with fountains and fresh flowers.
They unexpectedly bump into each other, at the age of 10 in a crowded market. They instantly are pulled in and Amir falls in love with the warmth of her eyes. With the help of Tasmin, a black belt and the next Women's Boxing Champion (which The Red Hand Gang stripped the title off her) - also seeks revenge, and they have to fight against for they believe in.
