Radom, dzień przed wigilią dwutysięcznego szóstego roku. Wszędzie panuje ogromny mróz...wszędzie tylko nie w domu rodziny Kruków. Tu jest na prawdę ciepło, gorąco w ręcz. Piekielnie gorąco...
Ogień pożera wszystko. Świeżo wyprane dywany, nowe zasłony, ukochaną lalkę, obrazek dla Stasia...i nawet ich. Choć kłócili się niemal każdego dnia, kochała tą dwójkę całym serduszkiem. Z nikim nie czuła się tak bezpiecznie, jak z nimi...swoimi rodzicami.

Zosia jako malutka dziewczynka cudem ocalała z pożaru, który zabrał jej wszystko co kochała. Ją i jej niespełna trzyletniego  braciszka w ostatniej chwili uratował młody strażak, będący na swojej pierwszej służbie. Rodzeństwo trafia do dwóch różnych domów dziecka. Zofia nie mogąc poradzić sobie z bólem po stracie najbliższych zaczyna sprawiać problemy wychowawcze. Przechodzi z jednej rodziny do drugiej. I tak w kółko...aż niedługo przed osiemnastymi urodzinami trafia to rodziny Krzyżanowskich. 
Co się zmieni od tego momentu? Niemalże wszystko.
