"On a scale of zero to ten, zero being no feeling and ten being extreme pain, how would you rate your pain currently?" the doctor in the medical mask asked, hovering with his clipboard and pen. The lights flashed overhead, blinding and burning to the eye. Loud beeping from machines sounded like a bullet sound every beat.
"Zero," Winnie managed to croak, "I can't feel anything, but I know I should."

Winnie Petrova was living a normal, boring life. Attending her parents awards or meets, going to private school, and studying constantly. After leaving her guitar lessons, she decides that walking home is better than having her parents drive her home. They would fight all the way home, anyways.
But she didn't know there was somebody out to get her. That there was a threat that had been appearing throughout her life, one that her parents had been ignoring and dismissing.
The last thing she remembers is the feeling of ice cold water entering her lungs, and the feeling of dying.
--
Winnie wakes up to losing a sense, but gaining two more. Knife throwing and musical ability. These seem to be a weird combination, but as it plays out, it isn't as strange as it seems.
