Jake was always an outgoing boy, always wanting to better himself and brighten the people around him, that was until his tenth birthday. His entire family came to his party, aunts, uncles, even his brother Will's boyfriend Parkar. Who was a welcome guest into the family, Jake liked him, he was pretty cool. Everyone wished him happy birthday and gave him cards and presents. Parkar had been staying at their house for a while because his parents were out of town and he didn't like to be alone. After the party and everyone went home his mom and dad went to bed leaving him, Will, and Parkar to stay up and watch movies and do as they wish as long as they didn't burn the house down. Will caved and ended up going to bed before midnight, leaving Jake and Parkar. He had one more "present" for Jake. Parkar told Jake to not tell anyone about it, Jake being ten and hearing the word 'present' he eagerly shook his head yes and smiled from ear to ear. Parkar took his hand in his and led him upstairs to the guest room where he was staying. Jake asked what he was doing but was quickly hushed by Parkar... and from there it was a downward spiral... He wished he was dead, well here comes death and he is pretty pleased. Huh, go figure. They connect in that weird killer, victim way...

Easton King has had a hard life. His parents abandoned him as a toddler and he's been from home to home for as long as he can remember. Nobody seems to want him, they just keep him for a little and eventually they all throw him away to be somebody else's problem. Because of this, he has never been close to anyone. He's learned from a young age that he can't trust anybody to stick with him. Don't get me wrong, he still has friends. In fact, Easton is one of the most popular boys in school. No one knows about his home life because he never talks about it and never hangs out with people outside of school. Derek Danvers (his friends jokingly call him DeeDee) has had a better life. He lives with his family and they are loving and decently forgiving like most parents are. He has suffered from depression and anxiety but not nearly as severely as Easton. He lives his life one day at a time and he doesn't depend on his friends but he trusts that they'll stay by his side, and if they don't then it's for the best. They didn't deserve him. Everyone in the school knows Easton puts up walls. No one gets within two or three feet of him, no one asks about his home life, and no one asks if they can go to his house or if he can go to theirs.
