After a King beheads his wife for disobedience, he has his men kidnap all the young maidens of almost all the nearby towns to be his new wife. To prep for courtship throughout the following two to three weeks, the girls are prepped and pampered to meet his royal highness himself. But one night, a guard comes to the youngest out of all the girls (Elle) and takes her to the Kings study. She is ordered to read to the King while he sculpts his latest masterpiece. Instead of reading what has been chosen for her, she tells the King a wild story of a starcrossed girl and boy. After hearing the story, the king laughs and sends her away. For the next few days, she and he girls encounter the King through the halls and the outside garden. The King's eyes always find her. Worried about how long she has at the castle, she preys the king will find his wife quickly and be done with her.
