A young mutant learns how to work as a special agent in a revolutionary new world. "Since the day I had first been able to acknowledge my own consciousness, I had been listening to the conversations of the scientists. But I hadn't been able to understand anything until I heard one of the scientists speaking of a 'Brain Boost.' The next time I woke up, I had been given extra wires into my head and a few new monitoring systems outside my Pod. After an almost unbearable flash of pain, I had fainted. But when I woke up, I could understand the words that the scientists spoke. 'Genetic' and 'DNA' had new meaning in my mind, and most of the science-y words that were thrown around along with numbers from Ten to Thirteen were easy to figure out, even if it took time.
