"Lips pulled in a permanent smile
I happily put on the façade
Hoping I can deceive everyone
Probably one day, I could deceive myself
Some people ask how I'm doing
And I reply with the smile still in place
Hoping they would look into my eyes
And see the lonely prisoner within
The smile they see hides so much pain
My pillow would know since it soaks all the tears
I wish I could scream it out
But no one wants to hear
They are content with the smile on my face
And perhaps I will learn to be content too."

"If you love me, you won't leave me." Jessie has believed those words from her boyfriend, Josh, since senior year of high school. She loves him and doesn't want to leave him. Not even when he shouts at her and hits her. Jessie's best friend, Kolleen, can't stand seeing her in that situation. I had survived the first. That was then; this is now. The blindfold of so many pills slowly died away and first though my finger then my head, a passion, a hurt and a need filled me as every moment was consumed with words; every breath with wisps of ink.
