Strange Change

In this six part Novella, a demonic Canadian dollar coin known as a Loonie falls into the hands of six unsuspecting victims and manipulates them to commit evil deeds. In Part One, Associate Professor of Psychology, Lilly Sanders finds a Loonie on her classroom floor. Sadly, Lilly is going through an ugly divorce, but soon the coin speaks to her and suggests a way out.

In Part 2, Wally Slade is poor and homeless, unless you count jail cells. He needs some cash and coincidentally finds a brand new Loonie on the street. It soon speaks to Wwally and suggests a slick way to get some cash--committ a robbery!

In Part 3, math student and geek, Joe Tanner, a loner with no real friends happens to find a Loonie on the ground. He's also in love with second year nursing student, Lauren Vale, but has no idea how to tell her, so that she might love him back. The Loonie conveys its plan to him, a plan that will destroy their lives.

In Part 4, the coin falls into the hands of retired, Sidney Crest who is legally blind due to a mining accident. He lives alone with his dog and sees his grandson occasionally, but loneliess is his constant companions. That is, until the coin promises to return his eyesight so he can see again. Sidney is overjoyed until his eyes see what his mind may not be capable of handling.

In Part 5, Sidney ends up in a mental institution and the coin falls into the hands of employee, Veronica Riley. Poor Veronica, her abusive boyfriend, Race has made her life a living hell, but hold on, the coin starts to talk to her and suggests a way to get back at Race for all he's done to her, a way that involves torturing him to death.

In the final Part 6, the Loonie happens to fall into the hands of Detective Jason Riley, a gambling junkie. It is when he goes to visit his sister, Lilly, who was confined to a mental institution after killing her husband, that the story comes full circle and attempts are made to destroy the coin.
