"I will fight beside you, you know?" I say to her. My whole body is trembling and it feels so hard to breathe. Her icy opal eyes are staring at me, burning my soul as she opens her mouth.
"I will not accept your help. You are too weak to defend even yourself", she spits the words like she'd know something that I didn't.
"I don't care. I will fight beside you, and I will defend us both. Taria is not going to hurt no one ever again, and I am the one to make sure of it", I repeat myself, looking her dead in the eyes. I will not back down now, not when everyone I have ever known and cared about is in great danger.
