In part two of this episodic psychological thriller, Nicole Jeffords. convinced that healer, Victor Goodlove, who disappeared ten years earlier is buried under her studio, continues her search for him, contacting old patients all over Austin and discovering that his life was mired in scary secrets.
The biggest secret revolved around the Bukh, an ancient and immensely valuable bible of medical remedies, predictions and codes passed down through the generations in Victor's family. Everyone is after the Bukh - big pharma, government agents, Victor's friends and family, and a mysterious foundation that specializes in genealogy and historical records.
Toward the end of Season 1, Cecily Rose, eleven-year-old daughter of Victor's therapist, Dr. Emil Shusterman is kidnapped from her camp in the Texas Hill Country. Emil and his art dealer wife, Alicia, go into shock and panic as they realize the only way to get Cecily Rose back is to divulge the whereabouts of the Bukh to the kidnappers. The only problem is: they've never seen the Bukh and don't know where it is.
So Victor's brother, Roy, steps in with a thumb drive that he says contains all the necessary info. However, the situation deteriorates when, two hours after delivering the thumb drive to Emil, Roy gets murdered, throwing his beautiful new girlfriend Janet, who may herself have designs on the Bukh, into a despair that casts a long shadow over events to follow.
