Felix Holloway's dad commits Felix to Hellingly Psychiatric Hospital, after his chronic depression led him to attempted suicide. While at Hellingly he befriends a variety of boys all suffering from mental illnesses as well. Among these boys is Vinnie, whose personality is as wayward and random as his hair.
