35-year-old Martin Ericson, a successful young man, happily married and father of three, drinks Starbucks cold coffee, drives a van and works as a Biology teacher at a small college in a big city in the overpopulated United States, specifically New York. His life seems to be wonderful. One good day, he meets Abraham Vlast, a Czech man and college headmaster who's like a deity in Martin's eyes due to his knowledge and experience. He's funny, kind and both of them can get along really well. Martin is really pleased to meet his boss and he slowly begins to trust Abraham until he finally feels like the man is his long lost brother. Abraham and Martin become great friends. Martin's family find him adorable and his kids look up to him a lot. Suddendly, Abraham dissapears for days that turn into weeks and finally two months. Martin, afraid for his partner's health and safety, hurries to his place, a small apartment, and the shocking news Abraham brings suddendly get the two of them in a twisted, do or die game planned by the last person they expected.
