"Maggie..." My best friend Serenity said in a flat, alarmed tone. I knew that something bad was about to happen, I could sense it in her voice. She turned around slowly, looked me dead in the eye, and said in the most alarmed tone I have ever heard, "Hide." I didn't take time to think, my heart was already pounding, my adrenaline pumping off the charts. "What is it?" I asked, but by the time I could get the words out of my mouth, Serenity had already grabbed my arm, her sharp fingernails digging into my bicep, and rushed behind a large tree stump. "What's wrong?!" I ask, confused. She pulled a finger up to her mouth, motioning for me to be quiet. Then, she nodded her head slightly to the left, I stood up from behind the tree stump to see what she was motioning towards. That moment when I stood up, was one of the scariest moments of my life. --- Everything stated in this story is completely true, and did, in fact, happen to my best friend and I. This was a school project for Language Arts, but my teacher encouraged me to publish it/post it to some sort of platform for others to enjoy. Here you go. Please vote, and get this story published!

"Come on, what's the worst that can happen?" My best friend Sasha asked, following directions from her GPS. "I don't know, our parents can find out, we could die!" I told her, a slight panic in my voice. She rolled her eyes, "It's just a party in the middle of the woods, what could go wrong?" " "Everything! Everything could go wrong, I mean did you not hear yourself? 'It's a party in the middle of the woods'," I paused for dramatic effect, "Haven't you seen scary movies? Black people plus woods equal death." She laughed, "Dude just because we are African American does not mean we're going to be the first to die." "That's what they all say." "Come on, it'll be fun." I let out a huff, nothing bad has ever happened in this town, what are the odds that tonight will be the night?
