Attacked by a Moose; Memoir

"Maggie..." My best friend Serenity said in a flat, alarmed tone. I knew that something bad was about to happen, I could sense it in her voice. She turned around slowly, looked me dead in the eye, and said in the most alarmed tone I have ever heard, "Hide." I didn't take time to think, my heart was already pounding, my adrenaline pumping off the charts.
"What is it?" I asked, but by the time I could get the words out of my mouth, Serenity had already grabbed my arm, her sharp fingernails digging into my bicep, and rushed behind a large tree stump. "What's wrong?!" I ask, confused. She pulled a finger up to her mouth, motioning for me to be quiet. Then, she nodded her head slightly to the left, I stood up from behind the tree stump to see what she was motioning towards. That moment when I stood up, was one of the scariest moments of my life.
