Lucy and Natsu never particularly liked each other, until one day, Lucy said something that touched him.

Eventually, they started taking a liking to each other, and became friends, which was for the better since they did share a dorm at the Fairytail Academy.

Lisanna, one of Lucy's friends, took a liking to Natsu also, but she "liked" him in a different way. Natsu didn't like her back, however, because he liked a certain blonde haired girl, named Lucy Heartfilia.

Lucy started liking Natsu much more, and they eventually started dating, but they decided to keep it secret, so that Lisanna doesn't get angry.

Lisanna eventually finds out, and does whatever she can to take Natsu away.

Lucy decides that she doesn't want to let him go so easily, and she fights for him.
