Emilia Anderson has spent far too many years shielding herself out of fear of being hurt by those she cares deeply for. After losing her parents in an unfortunate accident and becoming traumatized as a result of her manipulative, abusive ex-boyfriend, Jared, she constructed invisible walls around her to keep herself safe. The walls once seemed impenetrable to Emilia, that is, until she stumbles into the charming and tormented Ashton Irwin, who shatters them.
Emilia takes a chance and allows Ashton to enter her life, only to discover that Ashton is also protecting himself from memories he can't escape. They're oblivious to their attraction to one another, but once their pasts make an unexpected and unwanted appearance, they can't deny their desires and need each other more than they really know.
Together they learn how to detach themselves from their pasts, but it's easier said than done, especially when their pasts are relentless.
