His brow twitched, eyes darting around the features of my face. "Frighten, or excite?" His gaze dropped to my mouth. "Which is it, Miss Young?"

Once upon a time in a dying village, there lived a girl who dreamed of a life free of fear and death. She yearned for a world not ruled by the darkness and the demons awaiting her inside it...

For nearly eighteen years, Adaira Young has been able to hide from the monsters that plague her small village. Every year in Kinnot, a name must be drawn to be offered to the beasts from the mountains. Once they are sacrificed and disappear through the gates, they are never seen again. When Adaira's world comes crashing down around her and she finds herself on the outside of those very walls, Adaira comes face to face with the monster she's been cowering from all her life:

A terrifying  man named Beast. 

Whisked away to his palace in the icy mountains, Adaira struggles to adjust to her new life and fight the dangerous feelings of attraction growing inside her. But as the days grow colder and their relationship grows stronger, a deadly secret from Beast's past threatens to shatter everything. 

To live, he needs the one thing Adaira has to die for in order to love her: her heart.
