After a virus wipes out the entire human female population, humanity had to find other ways to reproduce. The artificial embryo was created, allowing the male population to design future generations in their image. Over a hundred years later, almost the entire population is made up of these "designer" humans. Ezra Ryder, son of his region's president, is one of these designers.
