"Not safe in here," he tried to explain quickly. "Not yet. Five minutes; give me five minutes and I'll be right back."

"Promise?" asked Emily , panicked grey eyes imploring under a frown too heavy for her age.

The Doctor crouched in front of the young girl and held his hands for her to take. Her breathing picked up and she swallowed, but she grit her teeth and allowed him to hold her shaking hands in his steady ones, eyes determinedly trained on his face as she tried to ignored the needles that suddenly raced up her arms and down her spine.

The Doctor gave her hands a light squeeze, promising, "I will come back for you."

He grinned encouragingly, dropping her hands and tapping her nose. Racing back to his blue box and jumping up to sit on the ledge, he gave the girls one last wide smile and dropped down into the Tardis.

"Geronimo!"

City...London Country...England Continent...Europe Time...1995 With no where to go, and nobody she knows, she aimlessly walked around the city until she came upon this young girl and her mother as they were walking home. This young girl quickly got the attention of Emily, who was curious about why Emily seemed to be by herself. The young girl's mother also found this to be a curious sight, if not a little alarming. Upon the young girl's mother's quick conversation with Emily, they quickly found out that Emily had no clue as to where she was, who or even where her parents were, Emily didn't even know who she was. As such, the young girl's mother did the only reasonable, logical, thing...they took Emily with them and also called the police to let them know that she had found a little girl who appeared to be lost. Six years later, Emily's life appeared to be coming together quite nicely...until she met a mysterious stranger who quickly shook her world to its foundations. Instead of the stories she very much liked to read, she was now living a wonderful, mysterious, exciting adventure of her own. It appeared to be everything she had ever wanted...if not completely safe. This is a Doctor Who fanfic, mainly centered around the Ninth Doctor.

But with cracks in the skin of the universe appearing, The Doctor can't seem to find the time to work it out. She stated suddenly, causing The Doctor to pause in his actions. "My eyes?" He asked her, an amused grin on his face as he kneeled down to her hieght. "What about them?" Avalyn smiled shyly, her own eyes wide with a sense of wonder. "Everything." She told him simply, giggling when The Doctor pouted at the answer. "The way they contradict everything else about you." She decided to elaborate. "Sad and old and wise; full of impossible stories that hold millions of words. Cold with grief, while at the same time, warm with the kindness of a man that can do no wrong." Avalyn paused as The Doctor grinned wildly at her. "Oh, Pond..." He sighed; shaking his head slightly, patting her on the head. "See you both in five minutes." He promised, jumping into the blue police box as the sisters observed, holding hands.
