Louie's lived her whole life within the confines of The Compound, knowing exactly what her future held. But Peyton Jones upset that future the night The Searchers rescued his group of Outsiders. Obviously, when a flesh-eating parasitical virus was found, scientists in all their glory decided to study it, which led to the greatest calamity in human history. Warning: This is the original book 1, it is now considered more of a prelude/building character relationships arc than a book. This provides backstory and sets the foundation for the characters and their relationships.
