Lance never knew freedom until he was fourteen, he only knew love or rather being loved when he was ten. He was only saved from the arena at fourteen. He was forced to fight at the age of nine. The Garlan didn't care how old you were, but if you could hold a knife or gun, you could fight.

Keith was in and out of the hospital for all of his life. He often snuck out of his room to wander the halls in an attempt to stifle his boredom.
