I was a disappoint in everyone's eyes since the day I could crawl. Bullied, neglect, abused by everyone. They only started to change their opinions about me when I succeeded Dragon Training. I can't stand this anymore. There's nothing for me here. There has to be something more to my life than constantly being scorned, looked down upon and feeling like I'm worthless. I have to find myself a new life.

Since birth, Hiccup Haddock was different from everyone else. Later on in his life, he turned into a disappointment to the people and an embarrassment to Berk. He felt like a waste of space, worthless and useless. That the world was better of without his existence. That was, until he met Toothless.
Their meeting opened up Hiccup's eyes and gave him meaning. There was more to his life than this. And the killing of the Monstrous Nightmare only fuelled his decision to run away from his 'home'. So he does.
But we all know that the past is a boomerang.
So what will happen when he face to face with that past and other hardships the world will throw at him. Cause he sure as hell can't run away from all of them.

I mean, sure he survived his first winter, and the next fifteen. But he caused problems, not on purpose. Things just happened when he was around. First when he was six, and a nearby furnace blew up when he lost his temper. Then when he was eight, nine, eleven. These strange happenings kept occurring, and nothing he did helped. Everything he did, everything he tried had some way of turning back on him. For the longest time he believe that the God's cursed him. It will make more sense when you read the chapter titled: 'The little boat' near the end of the book, but the actual story is 60 chapters long.
