"Shut the hell up! I don't want to hear you speak anymore, damn it! Just shut up!" he growled. 

I sat there whimpering on the floor with my hand caressing my stinging cheek. What was his deal? I don't understand...

Lucas turned his back and started pacing around the living room, giving occasional glances my way here and there. I just sat there in silence, scared of what he might do. 

Finally he stopped and knelt down next to me, cupping my chin in his warm hand. I winced from his touch.
