My name is Jerry Brookes. 20 years ago is when it all started. For four years I survived in the world. I killed, scavenged and stole, all to survive. Then I came across a sanctuary called "The Village". I lived there for 16 years, watching over Ash, the girl I swore to protect after her father passed away. We had running water, food, drinks, a pool, a tennis court, a church... We had a community, a place without infection. We had a sanctuary that made us forget about the outside world. Had. We've been driving for about three hours now. The Village far behind us. The threat we thought was gone, is more powerful than before. Our fantasy is over, we are faced with the real world now... I just hope we can survive. An intense thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world, Hope follows the journey of a group of survivors on their quest to find a safe haven in a world run by infected creatures that feed on humans.
The book contains graphic blood images and is intended for an audience of 16+ years.

The Dark Side
A click sounds from somewhere and within seconds everything around me sets on fire. I step back and hear the roaring flames from all around me. But, when I step back there's a harsh gust of wind in my direction. I glance behind me and see the fire open up a like a trail. Without much thought about the strange occurrence of events, I turn and begin walking that way. As I walk the fire continues making a trail for me to walk until I quickly stop. I'm at the edge of a cliff and ahead of me is burning land. Trees burn to ashes and all of the greenery burns until there's nothing left, but a large creature. The IX. In the words of a great philosopher; there is no limit to the gruesome and grotesque things we are willing to do in the name of survival. While reading this; Remember that not everything is as it seems. Remember that loved characters will die. Remember that the world will gradually get worse as the parts go on. Take a moment to ask yourselves these questions: What would you do in the name of survival? Would you steal to survive? Would you kill to survive? Would you lose your mind to survive? If you lost your mind, do you think you'd kill more, steal, injure, backstab, rape or any other atrocity you can think of? If you can think of it, then maybe you would. The characters and situations in this book are very real, if gore or horrific mental images scare you, then I wouldn't recommend reading far. DESCRIPTION: The Infection claimed the lives of over 3 billion people before the TV's went off. But it would claim many more. The problem didn't arise when those people got up and started walking again, or even when they started eating and infecting others, it began when people got desperate. In this new world, the true evil that humans are capable of gradually becomes more apparent, and a part of everyday life. Normality doesn't exist, people don't help other people. It didn't exactly make it easy to prevent getting infected. Things could have been worse, though, Megan thought. She could've been left all alone to ponder over her thoughts and fear over the future. It'll only be within the time spent with the new group will she find out that everything's not as happy and welcoming as it had seemed. These people had a few secrets of their own, including the real reason they took Megan in. This is a second view point from my original story - A Different Virus - Heartfire. I highly advise reading the original book first. Intro: Laura was a happy child without a care in the world. She loved her parents and life was perfect. Nothing seemed like it could go wrong. People started talking about a bad flu that was spreading and sending some into a coma. Her parents grew worried and stocked the house in case of a pandemic. Months later another virus appeared. Her family was shocked when the news people started reporting that zombies were actually real and not just part of a horror movie. They were appearing in every country. Her parents reassured her that none of the zombie sightings had been anywhere close to them. Her life is turned upside down when her father ends up in hospital with the bad flu and mother exiles her upstairs for her safety. She was never allowed downstairs again. Weeks pass and the streets become deserted with the exception of the red eyed zombies that wandered around. One night she notices a swiftly moving figure with glowing blue eyes in the street below. Should she call out or remain silent?
