Juliana is a sixteen year old girl who is like every other girl, but with a twist. She was made fun of when she was little for her weight, Her parents split at a young age, and her twin sister who she called her best friend died in a car accident. Juliana was traumatized mentally , physically, and emotionally. She got severe depression, anxiety, and a eating disorder.   Juliana cuts to heal the pain that she hold inside from her life. She gets in a zone that is not her and she becomes someone who is not her.   On the third year anniversary marking her twin sister's death, Juliana tries to commit suicide for the fifth time to be with her sister. Juliana's mom comes up to her room to see her on the ground with a bottle of pills around her and her arms cut open. Her mother rushes her to the hospital to save her.  The next morning when she wakes up she is in a hospital. Not no ordinary hospital. Heaven Oaks. Juliana is under suicide watch to help her change. Rita becomes strict with her eating, everyday the number of calories she eats gets lower and the amount of time she does cardio gets higher. She practices of managing her starvation by distracting it and never catches a break on the scale. Nobody is aware of it, it was something Rita doesn't want her friends or family to know, hiding her body from them didn't last long. Her mother noticed the dramatic weight change on her body. She tries to help her get back to her eating and tells her many times that she's "perfectly skinny" but nothing works. Her mother puts her foot down as Rita started to get ill, her mom takes her to a mental health hospital. She deals with consequences from her nurses and other patients.

Everything comes out but when her brothers react speechless to a sad memory Chloe tell she takes it as a sign in a bad way. Chloe takes a step into water. Her brothers have to say a goodbye? They don't know is she'll wake up. Chloe is in hospital lifeless and her family and friends surround her.. Will she wake up or will she take a trip to her parents? A new guy in class? The bad boy starts getting me involved? A new group of friends? What happens when things start to turn over for Chloe? She becomes more confident and gains more trust. But as the same time she cracks. It's a bumpy ride but she has plenty of help along the way- lets just hope her brothers don't interfere to much on the ride. She recruits Jason to help her and they begin to get close over the course of it. For some reason these two boys cheer her up. But for some reason the closer she gets to Jason the more Luke seems to disappear from her world. Can she handle losing her best friend again? Or can Jason hold her up?

Alvin helps him find his worth, take control, and makes his life easier, or so he seems. His best friends, Killian and Ruby, know Alfie inside and out. They know his family life, school life. And this is because Alfie is a simple person. He has never had a detention, nor has he been expelled. He's a straight A student with no history of alcohol or drug abuse. Will they suspect anything? How will Alfie proceed with his excruciating pain. Will he cover it up or will he find the courage to speak up and seek help?

Her mother's death has conflicted her thinking. Maybe she should just smile... it's what everyone chooses to do. But what if the muscles don't work the same as they once had? What if you have to start figuring life out in shades of grey.
