The Captain was a challenge I presented to myself a little while ago. It is unlike my other work. I limited the action, and focused almost the entire short story on strong emotion. It is presented in a way unlike my usual writing style and in a Sci-Fi setting which I am not used to. When I get more of my work up, you can see my normal writing style. It can also be found in my Co-authored book, The Hunter of Dunglyr.

The Captain is a short story focusing on the troubles of a captain on the ship, the Admission. He is facing death, and has only moments to think about what matters to him most and question his biggest decision in life. The story is limited to this small segment of his story. as a way for me to experiment with new things.

Survival in space was our only option. The dying earth and its sickly inhabitants forced us to flee to the stars. My father, the commander of the elite group chosen to live amongst the stars, brought me along for the journey. And everything was going smoothly until I unexpectedly woke up on a new planet, one with an ethereal glow and an eerie resemblance to our old home as the commander of the military space force, my father tasked his men with exploring this new world. But what they discovered was far from welcoming. This new planet was already inhabited by terrifying creatures, and they were not happy with our presence. His men fought to survive against these beasts, I couldn't help but wonder why they were so hostile towards us. That's when one of them approached me, defying everything we had been warned about. Instead of attacking, it watched me pick flowers before later saving me from a fiery blast. Now it's my turn to save him. Please read the prologue in the beginning before going to Chapter 1. I know a lot of people skip Prologues, however, it has important information that will give you a better understanding of what's going on in other chapters. Feel free to comment and vote. Earth has Fallen, it's as simple as it states. Ten years prior, They came. The Tephra, came to Earth intending to take over the life baring Planet. A humanoid species more advanced in weaponry, skills and knowledge than the Human race; looked to make it their home. Countries leaders refused to allow such a thing to happen and war soon ensued. Countless lives wasted to the attack when peace and coexistence could have been an option. Human's, losing, resorted to no other option then chemical warfare. Lieth was born in Scottland and migrated to America as a child when she was ten years old, Ten years before the invasion. She was now 30yrs old. The chemical used in the war completely altered her genetic makeup. She stopped growing upon becoming infected and the effects were permanent. The chemical also caused her hair roots to stain a deep green hue giving her a more inhuman hair color. Her eyes defined her the most. They were a brilliant shade of Ember, like flames in a fire. Kaija was Heir to his Father's Reine. The Tephra were a very tall, fit, Agile and fast, clearly built for hunting. They also stopped aging once they hit adult-hood. Dying only due to sickness, accidents or being slain. Kai's hope was to hopefully unite both races, by force if needed. Kai had long white hair that went past his hips. His skin was a tannish cream tone, a scar over his left eye. He had an agile black tail that was adorned in gold armor. Long pointed elf-like ears. He wore black armor with gold trimming that was protective against attacks of any kind, but was very light making it easy for him to move around. Armored boots adorned with climbing spikes and gloves that exposed his razor-sharp claws. The most distinctive feature of all was the golden skill mask he wore that shown is crystalline blue hues. Giving the illusion that his irises were made of the bluest ice. //WARNING Will contain smut and such// !!!SHORT STORY!!!! Old from computer.

This is my first attempt at ever writing something this long after being pressured into it by a couple friends saying I should try it since they really liked my short stories. This is meant to be a start of an introduction of six characters of which I kind of wish to build a story around. I also kind of wrote this in an anime style because I feel you can do more with anime than regular story characters. This origin is about a young man who was taken from his home at the age of three after his parents were supposedly killed. He was always treated special by the organizations leader but because of this he was outcast-ed by his fellow trainees. At the point where this story begins proper, he is given a task that hasn't been done to his knowledge at the age of fourteen. This task changes a lot of how he views the world and those around him.
