Blythe is a young witch who's never had a home. Since childhood she's lived in the slums of Morriland, barely subsisting. When a childless nobleman suddenly decides to display his generosity by taking her in, Blythe is immediately on guard. Who could possibly be interested in her, except as a toy?

Blythe seeks no friends, but somehow, one finds her. Maybe it's the unspoken bond between magical beings: her newfound friend Milo, she discovers, is a werewolf. Soon she and Milo must fight harder than ever before to belong in a world where they were never truly welcome.
