"You're my little queen," he told me, gently placing the crown on top of my head. I giggled as I gestured for him to kneel down before me.
"And you're my king," I squealed, awkwardly placing a flower crown on top of his head. He chuckled, pulling me into a tight hug.

Seventeen-year-old Seph Callas has no memory of her childhood nor of her parents but except for that and a stubborn repeated dream that won't go away, everything is normal. Once her eighteenth birthday strikes however, that all changes. With a sudden interest in flowers, random flashbacks, strange feelings she can't explain and being attacked in the middle of the night by three very scary looking guys.
If that isn't weird enough, Seph finds herself being saved by a handsome stranger who introduces himself as a private detective named Hades. Convincing her that it's no longer safe, he instructs her to come with him to a safe house. With only the annoying and moody Hades as company, she knows it's going to be a long journey although she finds herself trusting him nevertheless.
But along the way, she finds herself being chased by things that shouldn't exist; demons, gorgons, minotaurs, gods, goddesses and even a three headed dog which makes her question everything that she once thought she knew especially because they're all after one thing, her.
Has Seph made the right choice to trust him? Or is he the one that wants her dead? After all when you're told you're actually a Greek Goddess named Persephone, your real father is Zeus and you've got this big destiny set out ahead of you where you're going to end up being a Queen of the Underworld, you'd end up laughing about it too.

Flowers and Shadows
Hades and Persephone is a story that has so many different sides to it. Some people romanticize their relationship (often without taking into account certain aspects of the myth) while others insist that Hades was nothing but perverse and awful... even though taking Persephone, after having her father's permission, was quite normal for the time! This is a retelling of the ancient myth, with all the ancient components to it. I researched the story from many different sources and tried to make it as accurate as possible. The only writer's license was the amount of time she spent in the Underworld before Hermes came-- I never found an exact number, so I wrote it as six months, partly so that they had time to truly fall for each other, partly so that she would return to the mortal realm immediately after being returned to Demeter. Persephone is a character who understands the place goddesses and women have in the world, understands the normalcy of her capture, but still struggles with feeling like it's unjust. Hades is a god with few romantic relationships in his past (Leuce and Minthe) who hadn't fallen for anyone for a while and wasn't quite sure how to treat a goddess in a realm he never visited. He starts to part his lips, and his tongue slowly enters through my lips to play with mine. He tastes of sweet wine, and I feel my hands sliding up to grip his hair. I let out a slight moan into his lips, and my breath grows heavy. We part for a gasp of air before meeting back with more of my muffled moans. A faint thud-like sound catches my attention, and I start to pull away to see what made the sound. My lips retreat, and I take a faint breath before clearing my mind to think logically. As I pull away, his lips simply continue to kiss my chin and down my cheek. Another gasp slips from my lips, and this one echos through the hall. "I..I think...I...I heard something." I whisper as quietly as possible. He lightly pulls away to take a small breath before smiling. "I didn't hear anything. It's nothing." He pushes aside.... During the ancient times of Greece, lives the daughter of Demeter, Persephone. All her life has been sheltered from the mortal and immortal world.
