Alessandro Calastri says that after he began working as a research analyst at a brokerage firm in New York, he began to feel that something was missing in his life. In time, he decided that a big part of the problem was that he had to spend too much of his time in front of a computer, when what he really preferred was interacting with others. That insight, coupled with his love of food and food preparation, led him into the restaurant business. Since then he has worked in a variety of different jobs at a variety of different restaurants, and also earned two certificates from the International Culinary Center. He is now the Assistant General Manager of a Greenwich Village restaurant.
