A new genetic mutation has formed in humans that causes mental and physical regression to begin at the age of 18. All children are tested at 17 to determine if they carry the mutation. Jake is sure that he won't have it since it isn't all that common. It shouldn't happen to him. It won't happen to him. Until it does. Jake's life is turned upside down as everything he's ever known is now challenged and changed. Limits he never used to have are now set in place for him to follow. And to make matters worse, he is sent to live with two men who will become his caregivers as he regresses into an infant.
