"The time on top read "15:33 Day 98 Year 1157 A.G.W." A.G.W. stood for After Global Warming. It was something children learned about as a historical event, not as something that they personally experienced. 1157 years ago, humanity caused the planet to heat to a point that all of the ice melted, flooding the cities along the coast, and killing millions of people. The survivors formed a place that was supposed to be paradise on the mountaintops, naming it "The Abode." However, the people running it soon became drunk with power, and The Abode became a place of suffering and misery. A group of rebels formed, escaping from The Abode. They took refuge along the water-filled cities, and called themselves Poseidon's People, named after the Ancient Greek god of the sea."

Mazi Genesis is afraid. She just wants to live a long, happy life, with her two best friends, Radian and Dax. But unless The Abode is gone, this will never be an option.

Radian Tram has been working for Poseidon's people for his whole life. He has no incentive, other than the desire to help others.

Dax Ripley will never admit it, but he used to work for The Abodians. He left to join Poseidon's People when he learned about their goals. Now, he's working to take down his former employers, in order to achieve the life of freedom he's always dreamed of.
