Laney has finally achieved her dream -  being accepted to one of the most prestigious riding academies in the world. All is well, Laney gets first place wins and tons of friends quickly.
But all this changes when Laney's once wealthy parents get fired from their jobs and cannot afford any extra expenses. 
Mrs. Pawn, the stable manager, does not want to loose Laney as she is a fine rider, but cannot let her stay for free. Laney must now earn her keep by working at the stable. Now, all but one of her friends turn on her - leaving Laney struggling through work and mean girls with her only friend Aubrey.
