The story takes place in 1999 in an unknown town in Massachusetts called Silas. Bruiser, who is 13 going on 14, has had a rough past. Dealing with his mom and dad's drug overdoses, and his twin brother being a murderer and being thrown into jail constantly. He would have taken his life too if he never met his best friend and his biggest crush, Tiffany Joyce Cherrywood.
