As you may have been taught in school that the Declaration of Independence was signed on July 4th 1776 but that is not true. On July 4th 1776 Congress officially adopted the Declaration of Independence a month later most of the delegates signed on august 2nd but several others including Oliver Wolcott, Lewis Morris, Thomas Mckean and others signed on a even later date! The holiday was celebrated July 4th so people assumed that July 4th was when it was officially signed. The confusion made it so it was taught in school's. (This was my first post hope you enjoyed!)
