However, Winnie's home life is far from the perfect girl she makes herself out to be. Her mother is an alcoholic, with a bad taste in men to say the least. With that extra burden on her shoulders, Winnie is left to take care of her younger sister Lillian.
As Winnie balances the two different lives at once, she starts falling behind in her English class. Being co captain of the cheer squad has it's responsibilities so she's left with no choice but to be assigned a tutor.
